Georgia Department of Labor schedules job fair/career expo in Norcross
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Gwinnett Career Center and the Norcross Cooperative Ministry will cosponsor a job fair and career expo for employers and job seekers in the area.
The event will be held Tuesday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Norcross First United Methodist Church, located at 2500 Beaver Ruin Rd. in Norcross.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair and career expo is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Gwinnett County area together with job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature about 50 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings. More than 40 employers and 700 applicants attended the event last year.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Advance Auto Parts, AFLAC, AT&T/Cingular, Atlanta Electrical Contractors, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Best Buy, Broder Brothers, Corporate Temps, Corporative Mortgage, Cracker Barrel, Farmers Furniture, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, Good Samaritan Health Center, Goodwill Industries, Guardsmark, Gwinnett County Government, Hilton Hotel Atlanta Northeast, Home Depot, IKON Office Solutions, Lake Lanier Islands, Manpower, McKesson, NAPA Auto Parts, Pepsi Bottling Group, Perimeter Staffing, Phillips Correctional Institution, Roadway Express, Smart Document Solutions, Staffmark Transportation, Sunbelt Office Products, Target, Toys R Us, United Parcel Service (UPS), U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons, Marine Corps and Navy, and Waffle House.
