Metro Rome's unemployment rate declines in April
ATLANTA The Georgia Department of Labor reported today that the unemployment rate in the metro Rome area declined to 4.4 percent in April, down two-tenths of one percent from 4.6 percent in March.
Meanwhile, the state's unemployment rate increased to 4.1 percent in April, up one-tenth of one percent from 4.0 percent in March. The state's April rate was two-tenths of one percent lower than the U.S. unadjusted rate of 4.3 percent.
While the state's rate was up slightly in April, it was down two-tenths of one percent over the year, from 4.3 percent in April of 2006.
From March to April of 2007, Georgia added 28,300 payroll jobs, primarily in trade and the service-related industries. In metro Rome, the number of jobs was up 200, or four-tenths of one percent, from 45,000 to 45,200.
