Georgia Department of Labor schedules veterans job fair in Augusta
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Augusta Career Center, Association of United States Army, and Army Career and Alumni Program will co-sponsor a job fair for employers, veterans and other job seekers in the area. The event will be held Tuesday, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fort Gordon's Reserve Center, located at 15th St. and Lane Ave. in Augusta.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Augusta area together with veterans and other job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature about 50 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: AAFES, ADP, AFL Network Services, Aiken Regional Medical Center, Allegiance Staffing, Applied Materials, Auto Zone, Averitt Express, Brevard Police Testing Center, Carolina Handling, Charlotte Police and Fire Departments, Chenega Federal Systems, CIA, Coca-Cola Company, Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Correctional Officer Recruiting, CSRA Joint Electrical, Data Path, Delta Airlines' Augusta Reservations, Department of Juvenile Justice, Dyncorp, Embarq, Engineering Solutions, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Georgia Department of Corrections, General Dynamics, Georgia State Patrol, Human Resources Augusta, Intellegence Careers, Lesco Logistics, Lexington Police Department, Linquest Corporation, Mantech International, Marriott, MCG Health, Military Hire, Regent Security, Richmond County Government, Sarasota Police Department, Secret Service, Secure Financial Services, T Mobile, Troops To Teachers, Wackenhut, and 5 Linx Enterprise.
