Labor department schedules veterans career fair in Loganville

ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor and the American Legion will co-sponsor a veterans' career fair for employers and job seekers in the Gwinnett, Newton, and Walton county area. The event will be held Wednesday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at American Legion Post No. 233, located at 4635 Atlanta Highway, which is U.S. Highway 78, in Loganville.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This veterans' job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale and Walton counties together with veterans and others who are seeking employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services designed to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature about 45 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: AIG/American General, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Allied Barton Security, Athens-Clarke County Government, Atlanta Electrical Contractors, Averitt Express, Bass Pro Shops, Best Buy, Certainteed, Charter Communications, Chase Staffing Services, Clearpoint Resources, DeKalb County Police Department, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice, Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office, Gwinnett County Corrections Department, Hilton Hotels-Atlanta Northeast, Home Depot, Honeybaked Ham, IKON Office Solutions, Kraft Foods Distribution Center, Lowe's Home Improvement, Manpower Inc., Marshall's Distribution Center, McKesson Pharmaceutical, Millenium Security Services, MLS Concrete Cutting and Demo, NAPA-Atlanta Distribution Center, Nisshinbo Automotive, Northrop Grumman-Information Technology for the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Pactiv Corporation, Schwans Home Service, Southern Home Care Services, Terminix International, U.
