Kings Bay Youth Employment Expo Scheduled
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Kings Bay Career Center and Employer Committee, along with several other local organizations, will co-sponsor the area's 12th annual youth employment expo on March 22. The event is designed to help youth 15-22 years old find jobs and career opportunities.
"Last year, nearly 600 students and more than 60 employers and organizations participated in the youth expo," said Commissioner Thurmond. "I encourage the employers and youth in the Kings Bay area to participate again this year, so that the event will be just as successful as last year's."
The expo will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. at the cafeteria at Camden County High School, located off Laurel Island Parkway, near I-95's Exit 6 in Kingsland. Coastal Georgia Community College of Brunswick will conduct mock interviews and provide feedback to the students.
Other sponsors of the event include: Kings Bay Naval Sub Base's Fleet and Family Support Center, Camden-Kings Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, and Camden County High School's youth apprenticeship and work-based learning programs.
Employers and other organizations that would like to participate in the youth expo may contact the labor department's Kings Bay Career Center at (912) 673-6942. There is no charge for participation in the event.
