Labor department schedules Tifton area career expo
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Tifton Career Center and Tift Area Employer Committee will co-sponsor a career expo at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) for employers and job seekers in the area. The event will be held Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Cordell Conference Room at ABAC, located at 2802 Moore Highway in Tifton.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This career expo is designed to bring Tifton area employers and organizations together with students, veterans, and others who are seeking employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services designed to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature about 50 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: AFLAC Insurance, Albany Police Department, Avon Products, Brickman Group, Cal-Maine Foods, Childcare Resource and Referral, City of Albany's Human Resources Department, City of Tifton/Tifton Police Department, Colquitt Regional Medical Center, Davis Landscape, Department of Natural Resources' Law Enforcement, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Equity Group-Georgia Division, Fockele Garden Company, Georgia Department of Transportation, Georgia Department of Revenue, Gibbs Landscape, Gold Kist, Heatcraft Refrigeration, Kids Advocacy Coalition, Lake Blackshear Resort, Lykes Brothers, McCorkle Nurseries, Melaleuca: The Wellness Company, Mother's Love Child Care and Learning Center, Park Regency, Park Regency, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Piedmont Landscape Company, Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Radio Shack, Sanderson Farms, Southern States Cooperative, Tender Care, Thomasville Police Department, Tift County E-911, Tift County Schools, Tift Regional Medical Center, Tift Regional Medical Center, Trugreen Landscape, Turner's Furniture, Turning Point Hospital, U.
