Job openings now available on television in Coffee County
ATLANTA -- State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that Georgia JobTV, a unique service that allows television viewers to search for jobs and further their careers from the convenience of their homes, is now available throughout Coffee County.
Georgia JobTV is seen over WDTV-13, the City of Douglas' government access channel provided as a service of Charter Communications on channel 13. JobTV is broadcast daily in one-hour segments at 4 a.m., 8 a.m., noon, 4 p.m., 8 p.m. and midnight. WDTV-13 and JobTV are also available in Ambrose, Broxton, Douglas, Nicholls, and West Green.
"We're excited about partnering with the City of Douglas to provide this valuable, state-of-the-art service to job seekers and employers," said Commissioner Thurmond. "It's a great example of how the Georgia Department of Labor is using technology to better serve Georgians. We've wanted to offer JobTV in Coffee County for several years, and it's because of the leadership and cooperation of Mayor Tony Paulk, City Manager Jackie Wilson, and the city council that it's now available."
Douglas Mayor Tony Paulk said, "We're proud to work with Commissioner Thurmond and the Georgia Department of Labor to bring JobTV to our area. We're already receiving very good response from our citizens, which clearly indicates that this service is wanted and needed here."
JobTV provides 160 job openings in the private and public sectors listed with the Georgia Department of Labor in the Coffee County area. The job listings are updated each weekday. Each listing includes the job title, location, salary, education and experience requirements, and a job number. Job seekers should use the job number when visiting any of the state labor department's 53 career centers to obtain additional information, or to inquire about applying for the job. Labor department staff will refer all qualified applicants to the employers for their consideration.
In addition to current job listings, Georgia JobTV provides video reports about career development and services available to job seekers and employers, as well as useful career-related tips.
The residents of Douglas and Coffee County are served by the Georgia Department of Labor's Douglas Career Center, which is managed by Cheryl Winters. The career center is located at 310 West Bryan Street. Its operating hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The telephone number is (912) 389-4254. Job openings are also available on the labor department's Website at www.dol.state.ga.us.
