Bainbridge employer seminar on unemployment insurance scheduled
ATLANTA The Georgia Department of Labor's Bainbridge Career Center and the Southwest Georgia Employer Committee will co-sponsor a seminar on the state's unemployment insurance (UI) program for employers in the area.
The seminar is designed for managers, supervisors, and financial and human resource personnel. It will be held Tuesday, Aug. 1, from 8-11:30 a.m. at the Southwest Georgia Regional Library, 301 Monroe St. in Bainbridge.
Cherry Rizer of Albany, an employment and training consultant with the Georgia Department of Labor, will conduct the seminar, entitled Unemployment Insurance, What an Employer Needs To Know. The seminar will focus on aspects of the UI program, including taxes paid by employers, the claims process and what state examiners are looking for on claims, and an overview of the appeals process.
The employer committee is a group of local business representatives who establish and maintain a working relationship between the employer community and the career center.
