State Labor Department holds Job fair in Rabun County for laid-off workers and other job seekers
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor will sponsor a job fair and career expo for laid-off workers at Fruit of the Loom's Rabun County apparel plant, other area job seekers, and employers in northeast Georgia.
The job fair and career expo will be held Wednesday, July 12, from 1-5 p.m. at Rabun County Elementary School, event co-sponsor, located at 115 East Boggs Mountain Rd. in Tiger. While the event is open to the public, laid-off workers at Rabun Apparel are especially encouraged to attend. The event will feature about 75 employers seeking to fill a variety of job openings.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair and career expo will provide an excellent opportunity for laid-off workers at Rabun Apparel and other job seekers in the area to come together with northeast Georgia employers. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services designed to help them reach their full workplace potential."
Representatives from area businesses will be on hand to interview job applicants and discuss possible employment opportunities with their companies. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for job openings.
