WELLINGTON LEISURE PRODUCTS RECEIVES LABOR DEPARTMENT'S SAFETY AWARD
ATLANTA -- State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that Wellington Leisure Products of Eatonton has earned the Georgia Department of Labor's Award of Excellence in recognition of exceptional workplace safety. The award is one of five Awards of Excellence won by Wellington operations in Georgia.
The award is made to an employer who has experienced 250 or more continuous work days within a calendar year with no lost-time injuries, including restricted work activity, lost-time illnesses or fatalities. A workday is considered to be an eight-hour period.
The labor department's safety awards program is designed to recognize and promote safe workplaces throughout the state. In addition to the awards program, the labor department sponsors the annual Georgia Safety, Health, and Environmental Conference, which is set for Oct. 3-4 at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta. The theme of this year's conference is "Don't Gamble With Safety."
