SCHNEIDER WINS SECOND CONSECUTIVE DVOP AWARD FROM VFW
ATLANTA -- For the second consecutive year, Liberty County resident P. J. Schneider, of the Georgia Department of Labor's Hinesville office, has received a statewide award from a veterans organization.
At its recent state convention in Macon, the Georgia Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) named Schneider the Most Outstanding Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) specialist in Georgia for the second year in a row. The award is given annually to the DVOP specialist who makes the most outstanding contribution to disabled veterans. DVOP specialists are in 53 labor department offices throughout the state. Schneider also recently received the DVOP of the Year Award from the Georgia Chapter of the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security (IAPES).
As a DVOP, Schneider worked with veterans to provide their employment needs. He specialized in providing case management and job placement assistance to veterans with disabilities and worked with the Veterans Administration to provide rehabilitative training and job placement services for veterans.
A retired U. S. Army major, Schneider has also served as a member of the Hunter Army Airfield Retiree Council and a transition assistance facilitator for the Army Career Alumni Program at that installation.
A resident of Liberty County for the past decade, Schneider is a charter member, past president and currently serves as secretary of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 789. He is also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Liberty County Veterans Council, and the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce's Veterans Affairs Council.
