LABOR DEPARTMENT'S BRUNSWICK OFFICE TO EXPAND ITS HOURS OF OPERATION TO BETTER SERVE EMPLOYERS AND JOB SEEKERS
ATLANTA -- State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Brunswick office plans to expand its hours of operation to better serve employers and job-seekers alike. The office serves the residents of Glynn and McIntosh counties.
Beginning March 13, the office at 2517 Tara Lane will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. This replaces the long-standing schedule of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
"We're able to expand our office hours without additional staff, overtime, or employee workload by using flex-time schedules," said Ronnie Bivins, manager of the Brunswick office.
The extended hours will allow customers, especially those whose work schedules correspond with the office's normal operating schedule, more opportunities to use the department services.
"We have to base our decisions about office hours on what's best for our customers," said Francis Mangham, assistant commissioner of field services.
The Brunswick office is a one-stop office that provides resources for youth, seniors, and people receiving public assistance or rehabilitation services. It also provides on-the-job training programs, veterans services, and the federal bonding program.
The office provides a resource center that offers resume preparation, career information, employment workshops, labor market information, job listings, and job referrals.
