JOB OPPORTUNITIES AND TRAINING AVAILABLE FOR NEW AIRCRAFT COMPANY NEAR EASTMAN
EASTMAN -- State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor is recruiting people to work for the new Aircraft Manufacturing and Development Company in Eastman. The company makes the Zenith CH 2000 and CH2T, affordable, all-purpose, light aircraft used primarily for training and pleasure.
The company, which held its grand opening February 6, is seeking applicants to work as aircraft assemblers. Applicants must have some assembly or production experience, be a high school graduate or hold a General Education Development (GED) diploma, be able to read blueprints, and have a strong work ethic.
Leslie Miller, of the Georgia Department of Labor's office in Eastman, said selected applicants will be required to attend a one-week pre-employment training class taught through the QuickStart Program at the Heart of Georgia Technical Institute in Eastman. The classes will be Mar. 7-11 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Miller said those who complete the QuickStart Program, and are determined to be among the most proficient, would be hired for a three-month paid probationary period, which may lead to permanent employment.
People who are interested in employment as an assembler with Aircraft Manufacturing and Development Company should apply in person at the Georgia Department of Labor's office at 5016 Park Way in Eastman. Applications will be accepted until March 1. Miller may be reached at (912) 374-6994.
