GEORGIA MOUNTAINS AREA JOB FAIR SET FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 20

ATLANTA -- State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Gainesville office, Lanier Technical Institute, and several local veterans organizations will sponsor a job fair in Hall County for all job seekers in the Georgia Mountains Area, including veterans and active-duty soldiers.

Veterans organizations participating in the job fair include the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America, Forty and Eight, and the Ladies Auxiliaries.

The job fair, set for Thursday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., will be held in building 500 at the Lanier Tech Technology Center at 2990 Landrum Education Drive in Oakwood. The one-day event is expected to attract about 25 employers.

Personnel of the labor department will be on hand to answer questions about career counseling and employment services available from the department.
