THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE GOVERNOR:
WHEREAS: A vacancy now exists in the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of Georgia by reason of the resignation of the Honorable William C. Randall, State Representative, District 127; and
WHEREAS: Article V, Section II, Paragraph V of the Constitution of Georgia provides that the Governor shall issue writs of election to fill all vacancies that occur in the Senate and House of Representatives; and
WHEREAS:
Section 2 l-2-544 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated provides that a special election to fill vacancies for members of the General Assembly shall take place under the authority of a writ of election issued by the Governor to the Secretary of State; and
WHEREAS: Said Code Section further provides that said special election shall be held on a date named in the writ of election issued by the Governor.
NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY
ORDERED: That a writ of election to fill the vacancy in the House of Representatives, District 127, be and the same is hereby issued to the Secretary of State.
IT IS FURTHER
ORDERED: That said special election to fill the vacancy in the House of Representatives from District 127 shall be held on the 2nd day of November, 1999, pursuant to the Constitution and Laws of the State of Georgia.
