EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE GOVERNOR:
WHEREAS: On October 2, 1998, Officer McGarrett Thomas was shot at the local jail in Marion County, Georgia, and,
as a result, is paralyzed from the waist down; and
WHEREAS: Law enforcement personnel have launched a vigorous investigation of the shooting of Officer McGarrett
Thomas which as yet to yield any suspects; and
WHEREAS:
Section 45-12-35 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated provides that the Governor of the State of Georgia is authorized, in his discretion, to offer and cause to be paid a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons who have committed a felony in the State of Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, PARTICULARLY BY VIRTUE OF THE PROVISIONS OF THE ABOVE CODE SECTION, IT

ORDERED:
That a reward in the amount. of $l,OOO.OO is hereby offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the'
