EXECUTIVE ORDER

Buildings known as 70, 72, 74, 78-80, 82-84 Broad Street, 66 Luckie Street, 75-79 Forsyth Street, and 69 Forsyth Street located on property acquired for the use of Georgia State University need to be removed:
In the opinion of Mr. William K. Chatham, Vice Chancellor for Facilities of the Board of Regents of the University of Georgia, the buildings can no longer be advantageously used by the Georgia State University or the University System of Georgia and should be demolished and removed; and
The Board of Regents at its meeting on December 910, 1997, declared by resolution that said building could no longer be used advantageously in the University System and that the demolition and removal of said buildings is in the best interest of the institution and the University System of Georgia: now
I, Roy E. Barnes, Governor of the State of Georgia, acting under and by virtue of the a u t h o r i t y vested in me by Georgia Laws, 1935, page 1 6 8 , do hereby concur in the aforesaid declaration of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia and approve the demolition and removal of the said buildings from Georgia State University; and it is hereby
That the appropriate staff of the Georgia State University, acting under the approval of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, be and it is hereby authorized and directed to have said buildings demolished and to have all building materials removed from the premises by public works contract; all said demolition and, if applicable, removal to be performed as expeditiously as possible.
