EXECUTIVE ORDER
BY THE GOVERNOR:
WHEREAS:
Diana Harvey Johnson, formerly known as Diane Harvey Johnson, a member of the Georgia State Senate from the Second District, was indicted by a grand jury of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta Division, on felony charges of mail fraud; and
WHEREAS:
Pursuant to Article II, Section III, Paragraph I of the Georgia Constitution, a commission was appointed on April 1, 1999 to review the indictment to determine in the opinion of the commission if the indictment relates to and would adversely affect the administration of Diana Harvey Johnson's office and if the rights and interests of the public would be adversely affected thereby; and
WHEREAS:
In accordance with the provisions of Article II, Section III, Paragraph I of the Georgia Constitution, The Commission met and reported to me by written report on April 13, 1999 that the indictment relates to and adversely affects the administration of Diana Harvey Johnson's office and that the rights and interests of the public are adversely affected thereby.
N.OW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY
ORDERED:
That D&a Harvey Johnson, formerly known as Diane Harvey Johnson, a member of the Georgia State Senate from the Second District, be and she is hereby suspended from office in accordance with the provisions of Article II, Section III, Paragraph I of the Georgia Constitution, effective this date as of the close of business.
