THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER

BY THE GOVERNOR:

WHEREAS: All Georgians are deeply saddened by the death of Harry A. Blackmun, retired Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States; and

WHEREAS: The President of the United States has proclaimed that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff on the day of Justice Blackmun's memorial service; and

WHEREAS: Justice Blackmun served the country with distinction as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States for 24 years, retiring in 1994.

ORDERED:

NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

That the flag of the United States and the flag of this State be flown at half-staff on all buildings and grounds throughout Capitol Hill from this date until sunset on March 9, 1999.
