Governor Perdue Appoints Mexican American to Latino Commission for a New Georgia
ATLANTA, GA - Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the appointment of Jose " Israel " Cortez to the Latino Commission for a New Georgia.
A brief biography is provided below:
Jose "Israel" Cortez, Lake Park, GA, - Cortez is a Recruiter Coordinator for Southern Pine Migrant Education Agency under the Coastal Plains RESA Agency. He is responsible for identifying and recruiting eligible children of migrant families and supervising migrant education recruiters from various local school districts. Cortez is a recipient of the Gloria and Joseph Mattera National Scholarship for Migrant Children and a member of the Berrien County Adult Literacy Advisory Committee. He also serves as a Georgia Migrant Education Representative and on the National Migrant Education Committee. Cortez received an associate of applied science degree from Georgia Military College, an undergraduate degree from Valdosta State University, and is presently enrolled in the master's program at Valdosta State University.
