Harmon Lawrence Williams (Will), son of
Harmon Benjamin and Rebecca Bessie Elizabeth Watkins, en tered into rest Friday morning, April 11,2008, at 2:32 a.m. after 68 wondrous years experienced on three continents. He em bodied a strength that "word and deed" must be one, that he passed on to all those who were graced to know him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Verma; his daughter, Veronica; son, Harvey; stepmother, Mavis Marie; sister, Marilyn Laverne; aunt, Anna; and a distinguished host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews living in Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, and along the eastern seaboard.
Daddy's commitment to his family was without question. He gave completely of himself and all he had to us and always made sure that we had what we needed. He was a strong disciplinarian and yet very loving, patient, compassionate, and supportive. He showed us by example what it meant to be a parent and how important it is to the wellbeing and happiness of one's children.
He was a man of simple means and tastes. He LOVED fishing. He was a solitary sort but was always very friendly and helpful to anyone in need. His sly smile and silent strength will be sorely missed by us.
No one's death comes to pass without making some impres sion, and those close to the deceased inherit part of the liber ated soul and become richer in their humanness. - H ermann Broch

Because I Could Not Stop for Death
Because I could not stop for Death, He kindly stopped for me; The carriage held hut just ourselves and Immortality. We slowly drove, he knew no haste, And I had put away my labor, and my leisure too, For his civility. We passed the school, where children strove A t recess, in the ring; We passed the fields of gazing grain, We passed the setting sun. O r rather, be passed us; The dews grew quivering and chill, For only gossamer my gown, My tippet only tulle. We paused before house that seemed A swelling of the ground; The roof was scarcely visible, The cornice but a mound. Since then 'tis centuries, and yet each Feels shorter than the day I first surmised the horses' heads Were toward eter nity. - E mily D ickinson
