Obituary
Servant o f God well done; Rest from Thy loved em ploy; The battle fought; the victory won, Enter Thy M aster's Joy.
Deacon Willie Stevens, a son of the late Oscar and Saphonia Graham Stevens, was born in Edgefield County on December 13, 1897.
On Saturday afternoon, February 9, 1991, God saw the road for Deacon Willie Stevens getting rough, the hills so hard to climb, so he gently closed his weary eyes and whispered, " Peace be thine."
At an early age he joined the Willow Spring Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. He was the oldest member and for many, many years he served as chairman of the Deacon Board, Superintendent of Sunday School, the church treasurer and a choir member. He was a retired farmer.
He was first married to Miss Leora Dozier who preceded him in death. His second marriage was to Ms. Annie Bell Williams.
Our hearts are filled with sorrow, but we realize that God's will must be done. We bow in humble submission to the Father above with the assurance that we shall meet on that beautiful shore.
Pleasant memories will linger on in the hearts of his wife, Mrs. Annie Bell Stevens of the home; daughters,,Mrs. Abbie Jenning and Mrs. Lannie Lorick, Saluda, S.C., Mrs. Dusker King, Milledgeville, Ga., Mrs. Sadie Turner, Capital Heights, Md., Ms. Ida Williams, Washington, D.C., Mrs. Marie Bugg, Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Carrie Culbreath, Patterson, N.J.; sons, Messers Ebbie Stevens, Saluda, S.C., Bennie Stevens, Washington, D.C., Olin Stevens, Silver Springs, Md., Raymond Stevens, Washington, D.C., Oscar Stevens, Jonathan Stevens and Vannie Williams, Saluda, S.C., Henry L. Still Remembered
He's gone but still remembered, We'll see his face no more But when we join the angelic host We ll meet again beside the shore. He's gone but still remembered, He left behind a lovely past, We need not mourn his going away We'll see him when we die at last. He's gone but still remembered, Great and nobel was his life. He withstood the sting of the strife He's gone but still remembered. His deeds were motivated by love, We know he's resting with his God. In the heavens high above; Gone! Yes! But still remembered.
