The Obituary
Allen Frank Moore is one of nine siblings bom on May 11, 1931 in Tampa, Florida to the late Anna Mae and McKinley Moore. He completed his early education in Florida's Hillsborough County Public Schools. It was there that he began to prepare himself early for success.
In 1948, Allen enlisted in the United States Army where he rose to the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. While honorably serving his country for eight years, he traveled extensively throughout the United States and the world. For 16 months, he served in Korea and was engaged in the military combat. He later traveled to Germany where he remained for approximately 5 years until his return to the United States. He was then stationed at the Fort Gordon Military Base in Augusta, Georgia
Allen's tenure in the military service afforded him the opportunity to develop an expertise in the area of telecommunications. However, after 8 years, Allen left the military and began a civilian career with the Department of Army as an instructor in the theory of electronics and telecommunications. For the next 30 years, he served in various capacities and worked in the television branch, training and development and acted as a communication specialist. He was a certified editor/writer. Over the years, Allen also continued to improve his skills by attending college, seminars and additional training programs. He had a thirst for knowledge and openly shared it with others.
Through a mutual friend, Allen met Mary Alice Stewart in 1956. They began a courtship that evolved into a fife- long relationship. They married in 1957 and began a fife of traveling, cooking, and ongoing visits with friends and family. Allen loved fishing and was willing to share his passion with others. He was a doting father and grandfather, albeit a strict disciplinarian whose lectures and stories to his children were designed to make them a model individual and citizen.
Although Allen's fife was filled with many happy events and experiences, he realized that his life was not complete. In 1982, Allen heeded to the call and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was baptized at the Broadway Baptist Church in Augusta. After a short time, he was elected as the church's treasurer and subsequently the Chair of the Board of Trustees. Later, he united with the St. Mark United Methodist Church where he served as chairperson of their administrative counsel. He was a faithful and hardworking parishioner who always believed in doing the right thing for the Lord.
In 1997, Allen joined the Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church USA. He was ordained as a deacon and served as their chairperson for one year. He was passionate about this ministry and provided recommendations for the board of deacons that are currently being used today.
Allen's professional career did not end when he retired after 38 years of service with the federal government. He began a new venture into real estate, acquiring a license to sale residential and commercial properties. He worked as sales agent with Rex Properties, Bowen Real Estate, Inc., Sherman and Hemstreet agencies. Through his dedication and his continued quest for accomplishment, he successfully served as a real estate agent for over 15 years.
Memories will be cherished by his wife of 54 years, Mary; three children, Brenda and Allen Jr. of Chicago, 111. and Eric (Pam) o f Augusta, Georgia; ten grandchildren: Malik, Adrienne, Ronald (Elainna), Alan J., Heidi, Erica, Micaela, Mariah, Alicea, and Eric II; Two great grandchildren, Rosalyn and Heidi's son; Three sisters; Janie Mention, Ida Payne and Lucile Anthony of Tampa, Florida and one brother Robert Moore (Geraldine) of Elkins, Pennsylvania; One brother in law, William Stewart (Grace) of Washington, Georgia; three sister in laws, Loretta Foster of Washington, D.
