M rs. E rnie Von H udson Jenkins, a native of Lanier County, Georgia, was the sixth child of the late Mr. and Mrs. James H. Williams. She completed her grammar school training in the schools of Valdosta, Georgia under the principalship of Reverend j.a. Lamar. She received her secondary education at the Center High School in Waycross, Georgia and graduated from Fort Valley Sate College in Fort Valley, Georgia. She earned a degree in Supervision of Student Teaching from Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Jenkins was a veteran schoolteacher and retired after 43 years of exemplary service. She taught in the public school systems o f Waycross, Waynesboro and Augusta, Georgia. She was the first teacher from Peter H. Craige Elementary School, Augusta, Georgia to be honored as "Teacher of The Year" in Richmond County.
Having spent the greater portion of her life in Augusta, Georgia, Mrs. Jankins was a loyal, devoted and active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Rendering service in the education ministry, she was Superintendent of the Sunday School Junior Department for eight years. During that time, she taught the Senior Class. Later, in the tenure, she taught the Primary Girls. Mrs. Jenkins was director o f the Vacation Bible School for many years and twice she was Chairperson o f the Christian Education Department. She rendered invaluable service on the Editing Staff of the Tabernacle New Bulletin - "The Torch." In the music ministry, Mrs. Jenkins sang in Tabernacle Baptist Gospel Choir.
Mrs. Jenkins was active in many civic organizations including the Association of University Women; the Cancer Society,; the League of Women Voters; the Leisurette Club (charter member); The National Association of University Women; the Senior Citizens Organization; United Friend; the Civic Club of Augusta; and the Y.WC.A.
Success in Mrs. Jenkins' life was predicated on establishing, attainable goals and the constant pursuit of making these goals a reality.
Survivors include a favorite nephew, Howard Lee Willaims, Rochester, New York and several other nieces and nephews.

Many have shared in the grace and fullness of Mrs. Jenkins' life. Her Christian compassion and stewardship were evidenced in quiet, private and unselfish ways.
The family of Mrs. Ernie Von Hudson Jenkins recognize and accept with infinite gratitude all expressions of endearment in the sunrise and sunset of her life. Your solicitude has lessened our grief and strengthened our resolve.
