When Tomorrow Starts Without Me
When tomorrow starts without me, and I 'm not there to see; if the sun should rise andfind your eyes, allfilled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry, the way you did today, while thinking o f the many things we didn't get to say. I know how much you loved me, as much as I love you, and each time that you think o f me, I know you 'll miss me too; but when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand, and said my place was ready in heaven far above, and that I 'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. So, when tomorrow starts without me, don 't think we 're far apart, fo r every time you think o f me, I 'm right here, in your heart.

Obituary
Jerry's sunrise was September 1, 1939 when he was born the second child o f the late Rhonda and Jerry A. Gilbert. His sunset was January 23, 2009 when God visited him in Avante at Charlotte Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and took him to the Family Reunion, joining those who had preceded him in death.
Affectionately known by many as "Bunky", he was born, raised, and educated in the state o fMaryland.
He had a strong religious upbringing and was constantly taught that Christ should be the center o f his life, so at an early age he united with the John Wesley United Methodist Church in Joppa, Maryland.
After graduatingfrom Central Consolidated High School in Hickory, MD, he entered the US Army and served his countryfor twenty years. He was initiated into Cecil A. Ellis, Sr. Lodge No. 110.
While stationed at Fort Gordon, Jerry remembered his early training and realized he needed to connect with the body o f believers, so he attended andjoined the Antioch Baptist Church o fAugusta.
After serving tours o f duty abroad to include Vietnam, he returned stateside and married Dorothy C. Moore in 1967. God blessed this union with three delightful children. Jerry was an extremely proud father, and he was also a very good father to the three children. He really loved them dearly.
Upon returning to the States in 1978, he retired and settled in Augusta. Jerry joined the Williams Memorial CME Church where he served until his health began to fail. Then, he relocated with one o f his sons in Charlotte, NC. At Williams Memorial, Jerry enjoyed worshipping and serving, especially serving on the Usher Board.
Those left to cherish his memory are his love ones: Dorothy M. Gilbert, Augusta; Children: Reginald M. Gilbert o f Spartanburg, SC; Rhonda M. Vivor and her husband, Kodjo o f Las Vegas, NV; Ronald M. Gilbert o f Charlotte, NC; a loving grandson whom he adored, DaQuan Pino-Gilbert o f Wilmington, NC; Sisters: Elsie Lingham, Abingdon, MD; JohnAnn Turner o f Phoenix City. Tributes
Dear Pop, You were and are truly one o f a kind. You showed and taught me a lot in my lifetime. You took me to Europe and showed me a different culture. You taught me how to fish while sitting on the Chesapeake Bay and on the James River. You coached my little league baseball team. You were an assistant coach fo r my football team that went undefeated in 1976 in Stuttgart, Germany. You taught me sports and good sportsmanship. I only hope I can do at least half as much as you did for me, fo r my son. You will be missed greatly, Pop. I love you! I love You! Ilo ve You!

Daddy, How can I say thank you fo r all that you have done? You helped me become the lady that I am today and I cherish you fo r that. All I have left now are the delightful memories you have left with me, which serves as nourishment to my soul. Your laugh, your smile, your kindness, you witticism, your gentleness have all been deposited into my memory bank. Living without you will be so hard atfirst daddy, but just like you taught us, God is the source o f our strength and because He lives we can face tomorrow. You willforever be in my heart.

I will always remember you, Dad, I will always remember celebrating my birthday while driving to Maryland every summer. I remember you teaching me about fixing cars, even though I never really caught on. I also remember our trip to Alcorn State University in our matching 1974 Chevy Impalas. Most o f all, I remember all o f the love and support you not only gave me, but everyone around you. I hope you know how very much I love you, too.
