Sallie Weese Davis Dicks, the daughter of the late Norris
and Annie Willie Elizabeth Terrell Davis, was born June 9, 1923 in Vidette, GA. She was the youngest o f four children.
She attended Jefferson Training School, in Louisville, GA and Boggs Academy, Keysville, GA to complete her basic education. In 1947, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Livingstone College, Salisbury, NC. Her postgraduate work included further studies at Fort Valley State, Benedict College, South Carolina State University, Paine College, and the University o f South Carolina. She was an educator in both Elementary and High Schools. She taught in Keysville, GA, Milledgeville, GA, Rosier, GA, Springfield, SC, Norway, SC, and Johnston, SC. In addition, she served as a nutritionist for several years at Goodland Elementary School, Springfield, SC. Mrs. Dicks' career as a teacher spanned over 31 years.
She was married to the late Reverend Ernest Dicks, Sr., on January 29, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1999. To this union four children were born; Norma Jean Veronica Dicks Govan, Ernest Dicks, Jr., Samuel Norris Dicks, and Elvis Raynard Dicks.
Three brothers preceded her in death, Walter Davis, William Davis, and James Davis, and a stepdaughter, Gussie Bell Key.
At an early age she joined the Green Grove AMEZ Church, Gough, GA. For yg many years she was a member o f the Zion Hill Gospel Choir, Talatha, SC. She later BJ joined the Mt. Zion AMEZ Church, Augusta, GA, where she was currently a member. -A She was a member o f the World Home Overseas Mission (WHOM) Missionary

Mrs. Sallie Dicks formerly served as the County President of the SC Family Community Leaders Club, a board member and President of the Schofield Chapter of SC Family Community Leaders Club. Mrs. Dicks was a current member of the SC Retired Teacher's Association, Smith-Hazel Senior Citizens Club, and the Schofield Chapter of the SC Family Community Leaders Club.
She was a beautiful God-fearing woman who cherished her family, extended family, and friends. She believed in the power of God and prayer.
On Saturday, January 17, 2009 she left her home to be with the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Norma Jean V. Govan, of Columbia, SC; three sons, Ernest (Carol) Dicks, Detroit, MI, Samuel Norris (Brenda) Dicks, Aiken, SC, and Elvis Raynard Dicks, Detroit, MI; eight grandchildren, William J. Govan, Jr., Veronica O. (Antonio) Hodges, Elizabeth T. Govan, Taylor D. Dicks, Michael E. Dicks, Nikita D. Dicks, Andrea N. Dicks, and Natasha M. Dicks; one great-grandson, Luke Terrell Hodges; one sister, Robbie Doll Johnson, Brooklyn, NY; six step grandchildren, Annie, Rev. Wilbur, Charles, Ernest, Sheila, and Chris Key; sixteen step great-grandchildren, eight sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, two guardchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Thank you for blessing us with a loving, compassionate, Christian mother. 'T w as grace that brought her safe thus far, and grace has lead her home."
