Reflections of a jCife
Lewis Greer Cox, Jr. was born in Petersburg, Virginia on June
29, 1957 to the late Lewis Greer Cox, Sr. and Helen Cox. He
departed this life at University Hospital on November 10, 2007.
Lewis attended public school in Augusta, Georgia and was a
1976 graduate of The Academy of Richmond County. He was
also in the United States Marine Corps. After serving time in the
military, Lewis worked in the medical field for several years.
While working in this field he met Mrs. Helen Landing, whom
he loved and cared for until his antedated death.
On February 8, 1989, Lewis was united in Holy Matrimony to
Plenzie M. Jones.
Lewis, Jr. was a loyal, loving, caring, God-fearing man who
sought Gods face in prayer every day. He would tell of Gods
love to anyone he came in contact with. Lewis loved gardening,
traveling, grilling (he was a great cook) and loved to joke with
family and friends. He was a family man who loved his children
and grandchildren, but did not care for people eating his snack
cakes! He especially loved his pet Miss Tips.
Lewis leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving and
dedicated wife of 18 years, Plenzie Cox; mother, Helen Cox;
four daughters, Tasheika Cox, Jennifer Glenn, Cinmine M. Cox,
Lashana (Al) Washington, all of Augusta, Georgia; two sons,
Lewis G. Cox, III of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jonathan Glenn of
Augusta, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Tarun D. Cox,
Christopher Williams, Shania Lee, Joshua Williams, Conrad
Rose, Jr., Elijah Cox, Matthew Williamson, Mikayla J. Luke,
Timothy Williamson; two sisters, Glenda (Mack) Outler and
Patricia (Collins) Mahoney of Augusta; three brothers, Harold
(Cora) Cox of Virginia, Michael (Macy) Cox and Donald (Lois)
Cox, both of Atlanta, Georgia; mother and father-in-law, Ernest
(Virginia) Jones, Sr.; two brothers-in-law, Ernest (Janet) Jones
Jr.; three sisters-in-law, Lolethia (Lastarza) Thomas, J. Darlene
Burke, Elizabeth (Henry) Byrant; god-sister Wanda Walker;
special friend Helen Landing; and a host of uncles, aunts,
cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
We will always remember the strength in his voice as he sang his
favorite song, The Anchor Holds, the way he would dance
when listening to the country music he loved so much, his
courage in fighting cancer, his deeply rooted love for his wife and
the jokes and stories he shared with family and friends.

An Ode to Lou
Loved beyond your own comprehension
The contagious laughter now deeply missing
A smile through rough times was clearly shown
Would have hugged you more had I known
Tour presence lingers throughout every room
God needed you there, but for us too soon
Tour temper could light up the darkest streets
Well miss you cooking your barbequed meat
Though you are gone, youre never left behind
Well think of you fondly and remember good times.

Words cannot adequately express the gratitude of our hearts for all
expressions of kindness, concerns and sympathy extended during our
bereavement. Your prayers, phone calls, visits and cards helped to ease
the extent of our sorrow. May God richly bless each of you.
