** OBITUARY **
Mr. Melvin Collier departed this life on Sunday morning, February 9, 1992. Mr. Collier was born in Clarks Hill, South Carolina on September 5, 1929 to the late Mrs. Evelyn Collier.
At an early age he joined the Bethany Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. H. B. Bady. Melvin served as secretary of the church for approximately 26 years.
Upon entering high school at A.R.Johnson High School, he made Augusta his permanent place of residency. He worked for several years as an insurance agent. He later worked in the Physical Therapy Departement at the Medical College of Georgia where he retired after 32 years of service.
On June 1, 1959, he was united in marriage to Juanita Bussey.
Melvin was a very conscientious, straight forward individual who was always concerned about properly utilizing time. He was dependable and also deeply concerned about the welfare of his community and others.
He is survived by a devoted wife, Mrs. Juanita (Bussey) Collier; three favorite aunts, Mrs. Viola Sullivan, Evans, Ga., Mrs. Emma Lowe, Detroit, Mich. and Mrs. Lillian Kenner, Augusta, Ga.; one uncle, Mr. Johnnie Sullivan; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Helen B.Johnson; brotherin-law, James Johnson, Jr.; nieces, Dorene Bussey, Sylvia Johnson and Mrs. Alva Bussey; nephews, Gary T. Bussey and Cedric J.Johnson; two favorite nephews, Gary Bussey, II and Patrick J.Johnson; several other caring relatives and many friends. . .
