- The overall objective of this study was to determine the frequency and quality of elderly African Americans' utilization of health and social services. In order to reach this objective, questionnaires were administered to respondents that were over the age of sixty years old that resided in their own dwellings within Fulton County, Atlanta, Georgia. There were twenty-five female respondents and six male respondents in the sample. This study was an attempt to determine the type of social services needed by elderly African Americans and the availability of these services to this population. The findings of this study demonstrated the need for the expansion of Adult Day Care, the need to provide information to this population concerning the social services readily available and the need to develop additional health and social services for this population.
