OBITUARY
Mrs. Julia Dean Hardy Preston was born on Friday, March 23, 1934 in Talladega, Alabama to Mr. James C. Hardy and Mrs. Johnnie Mae Gunn Hardy.
At an early age she confessed Christ as her Savior and joined Lily Hill Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her demise. She loved singing, especially spiritual singing and she enjoyed going to church. Julia was educated in the Talladega City School System and graduated from Westside High School in 1952. She retired from the Talladega City School System with thirty years of service.
Julia was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Norman Preston in 1972.
On Wednesday, may 12, 2010, she went home to be with the Lord while a patient at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Johnnie Mae Hardy; step brother, Eugene Dickerson; and step sisters, Mamie Robinson and Joyce Owens.
Precious memories will be cherished by her brother, Mr. James (Aprilene) Hardy of Denver, Colorado; step-brother, Mr. Virgil (Alice) Dickerson of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Mrs. Juanita (J. L.) Wilson of Talladega, Alabama; step-sisters, Ms. Wilnor Massey of Cleveland. Ohio, Mrs. Betty (Edgar) Richards of Atlanta, Georgia; Mrs. Sandra Patterson and Mrs. Earlene (Terry) Simmons, both ofTalladega, Alabama; a special daughter, Mrs. Katrina (Sammy) Hill of Talladega, Alabama; her nieces and nephews she raised as her own children; uncle, Mr. Johnny Collins of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of cousins and many friends.
