06ituary
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown ofrighteousness, which the wrd, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day:
and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)
Trustee, Selmo"Tot" Perry, 86, entered into eternal peace on Monday, December 3, 2012, at Chowan River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Edenton, NC. He had bravely confronted and fought his illness of long duration. He was born on October 17, 1926 in Chowan County to the late Bessie Perry and Sidney Patterson.
Trustee Selmo grew up in Chowan County. He was educated at Green Hall Public School and moved to Center Hill in the very early part of his life. There he met and married his lifetime "sweetheart," Louise Coston, in 1946.
He was a member of Center Hill Chapel Missionacy Baptist Church and actively served as an Usher, a Male Chorus member, Janitor, Manager of the Gospel Echo Gospel Choir, and later served as a faithful Trustee, until his health failed.
Trustee Selm.o (Tot) Perry was owner and operator of Tyner Service Station in Tyner until his retirement. He helped many people who were stranded along the road - many in ditches. Farmers depended on him to keep their farm equipment working properly. No mechanical job was to hard for him to undertake. He not only took pride in his business, but truly relished the friends he made during his time in business.
Bro. Perry touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. He was a people person. He loved them and considered it an honor to help them and offer advice. Bro. Perry had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. He especially enjoyed eating out on Sunday evenings after Church.
Trustee Perry leaves cherished memories to his spouse Louise Perry of Tyner, NC; two sons, one who preceded him in death- Calvin (Jeroline) of Edenton, NC; Rev. Carl (Rev./Dr. Ethel) of Windsor, NC; one sister - Ollie Pugh of Newport News, VA; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; two special nephews - Paul Flemming (Ella) of Tyner, NC; Steve Flemming of Tyner, NC; adoring and loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives; along with countless friends whom were blessed to know him.
Trustee Perry was preceded in death by his parents Bessie Perry and Sidney Patterson, and his son, Calvin W. Coston, Sr.
Bro. Perry will be especially remembered for his quick wit, spirit of adventure, and the tenaciousness that allowed him to achieve top rankings in many diverse endeavors. He was truly blessed. "He fought a good fight; he kept the faith!"

Special Farewell to "Pop"
We pause today to sayfarewell to our precious "Pop,, that we love so well.
Yes our hearts are heavy and sad, because we are going to miss our wonderful andfunny granddad.
But "Pop" would want us to know he,s in a better place. And that he is watching us all with a big smile on hisface.
As we have made him so proud, as proud as can be That he raised such a beautiful and specialfamily.
Thinking back now we must say how blessed and privileged we are to have known "Pop" to this day.
For in our lives, you have played a special part The memories we will treasure and keep close to our hearts.
Although, he has gone we will always be together And his spirit will live on in each one ofusforever.
When you look to the sky, lookfor the brightest star As that will be our "Pop" looking down from afar.
