Carolyn Linsey Matthews, the second child of Mrs. Huby L. Linsey
and the late Scunucl L. Linsey, .Jr. was born on October 16, l ~Hl, in
Atlanta, Georgia. She passed away on FebnJary 2~t, 20 12.
Carolyn was baptized early in life and attended West Hunter Street Baptist Church and later n1oved her membership to Salem Bible Church where she enjoyed being a long time member.
She was educated in the Atlcmta Public School System and graduated from Booker 'T. \Vashington High School in 1959. She attended 'Tennessee State lJ niversity for two years cmd returned to Atlcmta cmd married Robert Matthews, J r. and to this union three adorable children were botn, Robert III, Elease and Micheal. Carolyn was a devoted wife and mother. She loved her t~nily with a love that was more them a love. Her children were her heart and always ccune first. Carolyn raised her granddaughter, Apiplumy as one of her own. She WcL'i a wonderful role model for them, balancing a career cu1d fcunily, cmd taught them strong work ethics while instilling tl1e utmost value in their education.
Carolyn worked at Linsey's I<-:arly Achievement Center, a family owned business, where she was a teacher and director. She had a unique ability of getting the children under control with her famous stare, quick word, and sten1 voice. TI1e center stafT, parents cmd children loved and adored Ms. Matthews (as she was lovingly called). Many valuable relationships were developed with the coworkers, parents cu1d students. She truly loved her children at tl1e center. She also worked at Linsey's Cosmetics and Linsey's Salon and Spa where she was a licensed Estheticicm.
She leaves to cherish her n1emories: son, Robert (Vickie) Matthews lll; daughter, Elease (Harold) Maddox; son, Micheal Matthews; mother, Ruby Linsey; grandchildren, Tamia Flemister, Apiph;my Matthews, Trae' Matthews cmd Amari Stone; sisters cmd brothers, rocm (Claude) Pitts, Scm Diego, CA; Larry (Irene) Linsey, Ronnie Falls, Troy, Ml; Stephen (Sharon) Linsey; sisters-in-law, Patsy (Ray) Henderson and Rita (Scun) Washington, a host of other relatives :md loving friends.
